Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1/2 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 package refrigerated biscuit dough (or homemade pizza dough)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, oregano, basil, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and milk.
- Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear meatballs until browned on all sides (3-4 minutes per side).
- Add marinara sauce and simmer the meatballs for 10-12 minutes.
- Flatten each biscuit dough portion slightly or divide pizza dough into equal portions.
- Place each meatball in the center of the dough portion and wrap it completely, sealing the edges underneath.
- Place the wrapped meatballs seam-side down on the greased baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the dough turns golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, top each with shredded mozzarella, and bake for another 3-5 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Brush with melted butter mixed with garlic powder.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve with extra marinara sauce.
Notes
- For extra cheesiness, place a small mozzarella cube inside each meatball before wrapping in dough.
- Use fresh, high-quality marinara sauce for the best flavor.
- Can be made ahead—store assembled but unbaked bombs in the fridge for up to a day before baking.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes for best results.
- Try different cheeses like provolone or gouda for a twist.
