- 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 (10.75 ounce) package pound cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine sliced strawberries, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and water. Let stand for 15 minutes to macerate.
- In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth.
- In another bowl, whip heavy cream, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
- In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, layer half of the pound cake cubes.
- Spoon half of the macerated strawberries over the cake.
- Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the strawberries.
- Repeat the layers: pound cake, strawberries, and cream cheese mixture.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can use angel food cake instead of pound cake.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves or extra strawberries.
