- 1 loaf brioche bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Dip brioche cubes into the egg mixture, ensuring they are coated on all sides.
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook bread cubes in batches until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and let cool.
- In a serving bowl, layer half of the cooled French toast cubes.
- Top with half of the sliced strawberries.
- Spread half of the whipped cream over the strawberries.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining French toast, strawberries, and whipped cream.
- Dust the top with powdered sugar. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
- Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use a combination of milk and half-and-half.
- You can prepare the French toast and whipped cream a day in advance.
- Adjust the amount of sugar to your preference.
