- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unfold the puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface.
- In a small bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides.
- Spoon the strawberry jam over the cream cheese mixture.
- Cut 1-inch wide strips along each long side of the pastry, angling them towards the center.
- Fold the strips over the filling, alternating sides to create a braided effect.
- Brush the top of the pastry with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- Let cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
- Dust with powdered sugar, if desired, before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed but still cold for best results.
- You can use fresh strawberries, mashed, instead of jam for a different texture.
