- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

- 1 (15-ounce) can pumpkin puree
- For the Frosting:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2–4 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Add the pumpkin puree and mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers should still be soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- While the cookies cool, prepare the frosting. In a bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- Add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
- Once the cookies are completely cool, frost them with the cream cheese frosting.

- Ensure your butter and cream cheese are truly softened for the best texture in both the cookies and the frosting.
- For a festive touch, you can add orange and black sprinkles after frosting.
