Description
Tender, flavorful brisket slow-cooked to perfection and coated in a tangy homemade barbecue sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 pounds beef brisket
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your slow cooker to low.
- In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Rub this mixture all over the brisket.
- Place the brisket in the slow cooker.
- In another bowl, whisk together ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and liquid smoke (if using). Pour this sauce over the brisket.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.
- Remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing against the grain.
- Shred or slice the brisket and return it to the slow cooker with the sauce to keep warm.
- Serve warm with extra sauce on the side.
Notes
- For best results, trim excess fat from the brisket before cooking.
- You can adjust the amount of cayenne pepper for more or less heat.
- This brisket is great in sandwiches, on its own, or with your favorite sides like coleslaw and potato salad.
