  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely in the pan.
  8. While the cake cools, prepare the cream. In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  9. Gradually beat in the powdered sugar until well combined and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  10. Once the cake is completely cool, spread the cream evenly over the top.
  11. Chill the cake for at least 30 minutes before serving.
