Description

A refreshing homemade plum lemonade recipe.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh plums, pitted and chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 6 cups cold water
  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine chopped plums and sugar in a saucepan. Add 1 cup of water.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until plums are soft and sugar is dissolved, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Mash the plums with a fork or potato masher.
  4. Strain the plum mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard solids.
  5. Add lemon juice and remaining 5 cups of cold water to the pitcher.
  6. Stir well to combine.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  8. Serve over ice, garnished with fresh mint sprigs if desired.

Notes

  • For a smoother lemonade, you can blend the cooked plum mixture before straining.
  • Adjust sugar and lemon juice to your taste.
  • You can use other stone fruits like peaches or nectarines.
