Ingredients

  • 4 cups water or shrimp stock
  • 200g misua noodles
  • 1 medium patola (sponge gourd), peeled and sliced
  • 200g shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce (patis)
  • 1 tsp cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pot over medium heat. Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant.
  2. Add shrimp and cook until slightly pink.
  3. Pour in water or shrimp stock and bring to a boil.
  4. Add patola and simmer for 3-5 minutes until tender.
  5. Add misua noodles and cook for 2 minutes or until soft.
  6. Season with fish sauce, salt, and pepper.
  7. Garnish with green onions and serve hot.

Notes

  • Do not overcook misua as it becomes mushy.
  • Use fresh shrimp for better flavor.
  • Adjust fish sauce according to taste.
