- 1 package (14.1 ounces) refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
- 3 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup salted caramel sauce
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat the apples evenly.
- Unroll the pie crusts onto a lightly floured surface. Use a 5-inch round cutter or a plate to cut out circles from each crust. You should get about 6 circles per crust.
- Place about 1 tablespoon of the apple mixture onto the center of each crust circle, leaving a 1-inch border.
- Drizzle about 1 teaspoon of salted caramel sauce over the apples on each circle.
- Fold the edges of the dough up and over the filling, creating a rustic, free-form galette shape. Do not completely cover the filling.
- Brush the exposed dough edges with the beaten egg wash. Sprinkle the coarse sugar over the egg-washed edges.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let the galettes cool on the baking sheets for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool further.
Notes
- You can make your own salted caramel sauce if you prefer.
- If you do not have a 5-inch cutter, cut the dough into squares and fold the corners toward the center.
