- 6 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup grated Gruyère cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Separate the egg yolks from the whites.
- In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- In a separate, clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the egg yolk mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Melt the butter in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
- Pour the egg mixture into the hot skillet.
- If using cheese, sprinkle it evenly over the top.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom starts to set.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the soufflé omelette is puffed up and golden brown.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a sweeter version, you can add a tablespoon of sugar to the egg yolk mixture.
- Feel free to add other fillings like herbs, sautéed mushrooms, or cooked bacon.
- Ensure your egg whites are completely free of yolk for them to whip properly.
