Description

Simple recipe for marinated and grilled Korean-style beef skewers.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and water to make the marinade.
  2. Add the beef cubes to the marinade and toss to coat completely.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to 4 hours.
  4. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes before use.
  5. Thread the marinated beef cubes onto the skewers, packing them closely.
  6. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  7. Grill the skewers for 3 to 4 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until the beef reaches your desired doneness.
  8. Remove from the grill and let rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute sirloin with ribeye or tenderloin.
  • Garnish with toasted sesame seeds or chopped green onions before serving.
