Description

Joe’s Crab Shack Crab Dip is a creamy, cheesy hot seafood appetizer made with real crab meat, rich seasonings, and melted cheese. Perfect for parties, holidays, or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 12 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 (6–8 oz) can or tub lump crab meat, drained
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Paprika, for garnish
  • Chopped chives or green onions, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, and lemon juice until smooth.
  3. Add Old Bay, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix until fully incorporated.
  4. Stir in shredded cheeses, green onions, and jalapeño if using.
  5. Gently fold in crab meat. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Transfer mixture to a baking dish or oven-safe skillet. Top with extra cheese and sprinkle with paprika.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes until hot and bubbly. Broil for 1–2 minutes for a golden top if desired.
  8. Garnish with chopped chives or green onions and serve hot with chips, crackers, or bread.

Notes

  • Use lump crab meat for best texture and flavor.
  • Canned crab works well, just drain thoroughly.
  • Add hot sauce or extra jalapeño for more heat.
  • Make ahead by preparing and refrigerating before baking.
  • Pairs perfectly with tortilla chips, crostini, or veggies.
