  • Author: memorecipes.com
  • Total Time: 4 hours 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, this Incredible Strawberry Tiramisu combines the creamy richness of mascarpone with the bright, fruity flavor of fresh strawberries and a hint of lemon zest.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup strawberry liqueur or strawberry syrup (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • Ladyfingers
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced strawberries with 2 tablespoons of sugar and lemon zest. Let sit for 15 minutes to macerate.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine cooled coffee or espresso with the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar and strawberry liqueur (if using). Stir until sugar dissolves.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together mascarpone cheese, egg yolks, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until just combined.
  6. Dip ladyfingers briefly into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are moistened but not soggy. Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish.
  7. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  8. Layer half of the macerated strawberries over the mascarpone cream.
  9. Repeat layers with remaining ladyfingers, mascarpone mixture, and strawberries.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld.
  11. Garnish with fresh mint leaves before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, use strawberry syrup instead of liqueur.
  • Ensure ladyfingers are dipped quickly to prevent them from becoming too soft.
  • Chill time is crucial for the flavors to develop.
