Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Cream together butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Shape the dough into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut out shapes using cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Decorate with icing or sprinkles after cooling.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
- Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 3 days.
