- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon citric acid
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- Flavoring extract (optional)
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Grease a baking sheet or line with parchment paper.
- Combine sugar, corn syrup, and water in a saucepan.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Bring to a boil without stirring until the mixture reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat. Stir in citric acid, baking soda, flavoring, and coloring if using. The mixture will foam up.
- Pour the foam onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Let it cool completely until hard.
- Break into pieces.
