Description
Savory ground beef steaks with a rich mushroom gravy.
Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Form into four patties.
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add mushroom slices and cook until tender.
- Remove mushrooms from skillet and set aside.
- Add ground beef patties to the skillet and cook until browned on both sides and cooked through.
- Remove patties from skillet and set aside.
- Add flour to the skillet and cook, stirring, for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened.
- Return mushrooms and patties to the skillet. Cook for 5 minutes, or until heated through.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- You can substitute other types of ground meat, such as ground turkey or pork.
- Add a splash of red wine to the gravy for extra flavor.
