- 1 whole chicken (about 4 pounds)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F).
- Remove the giblets from the chicken cavity and pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, black pepper, and salt.
- Rub the seasoning mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin.
- Place the chicken breast-side up on the grill.
- Grill for about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the thickest part of the thigh reaches 165°F.
- Flip the chicken halfway through grilling for even cooking.
- Let the chicken rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
