Description
A simple, thick-crust cheese pizza baked on a sheet pan, reminiscent of traditional family recipes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon instant dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for pan
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Combine flour, yeast, and salt in a large bowl. Add warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled.
- Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit (232 degrees Celsius). Lightly oil a 13×9 inch sheet pan.
- Punch down the dough and press it evenly into the prepared sheet pan, stretching it to the corners. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by the Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a crispier crust, brush the edges of the dough with olive oil before baking.
- You can use store-bought pizza dough if you are short on time.
