A simple and delicious cake recipe passed down from Grandma.
Ingredients

- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.

- Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
- Do not overmix the batter.
- This cake can be served plain or with your favorite frosting.
