Description

A light and fruity twist on the classic Italian dessert, featuring fresh strawberries and a creamy mascarpone filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1/4 cup strawberry liqueur or orange juice
  • 12 ladyfingers
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cocoa powder for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss sliced strawberries with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Let sit for 15 minutes to macerate.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine strawberry liqueur (or orange juice) with the remaining 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the sugar mixture, coating both sides. Arrange half of the dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  5. In another bowl, beat the softened mascarpone cheese with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
  6. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
  7. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture evenly over the ladyfingers.
  8. Layer half of the macerated strawberries over the mascarpone layer.
  9. Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers, mascarpone mixture, and strawberries.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  11. Dust with cocoa powder before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, use orange juice or a simple syrup instead of strawberry liqueur.
  • Ensure your mascarpone cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Chill the dessert thoroughly for the best texture and flavor.
