A rich dark chocolate tart infused with bright orange zest.


Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made tart shell
  • 200g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 150ml heavy cream
  • 50g unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Place the tart shell on a baking sheet.
  3. In a heatproof bowl, combine the chopped dark chocolate and heavy cream.
  4. Gently heat the mixture over a saucepan of simmering water, stirring until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  5. Remove from heat. Stir in the softened butter, orange zest, and orange extract (if using) until well combined.
  6. Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared tart shell.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the filling is set but still slightly soft in the center.
  8. Let the tart cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a glossy finish, you can brush the top of the tart with a little melted apricot jam once cooled.
  • Garnish with fresh orange slices or chocolate shavings if desired.
