Description

Bake cauliflower florets until crispy, then toss them in a sweet and tangy orange glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup orange juice, fresh squeezed preferred
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water (slurry)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the cauliflower florets with olive oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Spread the seasoned cauliflower in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the edges are lightly browned and tender-crisp.
  5. While the cauliflower bakes, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the orange juice, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Whisk the cornstarch slurry into the simmering sauce. Continue to cook and stir until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 1 minute. Remove from heat.
  8. Once the cauliflower is baked, transfer the hot florets to a clean large bowl.
  9. Pour the orange glaze over the cauliflower and toss gently until every piece is coated.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can lightly dust the oiled cauliflower with a tablespoon of cornstarch before baking.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions before serving if desired.
