Description
A bright and citrusy cake with a creamy orange frosting, reminiscent of a creamsicle.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box orange cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in the orange juice and orange zest. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
- While the cake cools, prepare the frosting. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Beat in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with the milk, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
- Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
Notes
- For a stronger orange flavor, you can add a few drops of orange extract to the cake batter.
- Chill the cake for at least 30 minutes before serving for easier slicing.
