Description

A bright and citrusy cake with a creamy orange frosting, reminiscent of a creamsicle.


Ingredients

  • 1 box orange cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the orange juice and orange zest. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
  5. While the cake cools, prepare the frosting. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  6. Beat in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with the milk, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
  7. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
