- 6 cups sliced apples (about 3–4 medium apples)
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples and cranberries.
- In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle this mixture over the apple and cranberry mixture and toss to coat.
- Pour the fruit mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
- In a separate medium bowl, combine 1 cup flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the fruit mixture in the baking dish.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- You can add chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping for extra crunch.
