Description
A simple pasta dish that combines the flavors of a cheeseburger with orzo pasta.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
- Add the orzo pasta and beef broth to the skillet. Bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the tomato soup. Cover the skillet and cook for 15 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and most liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the cheddar cheese until melted.
- Mix in the ketchup and mustard.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use reduced-sodium beef broth.
- You can substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
