Description

A simple pasta dish that combines the flavors of a cheeseburger with orzo pasta.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add the orzo pasta and beef broth to the skillet. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Stir in the tomato soup. Cover the skillet and cook for 15 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and most liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the cheddar cheese until melted.
  6. Mix in the ketchup and mustard.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use reduced-sodium beef broth.
  • You can substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
