  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup cooked rice

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off excess fat.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beef broth. Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Add shredded cabbage and cook until tender, about 10-15 minutes.
  7. Stir in cooked rice and heat through.
  8. Serve hot.
