- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 4 cups shredded cabbage
- 1 cup cooked rice
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off excess fat.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beef broth. Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add shredded cabbage and cook until tender, about 10-15 minutes.
- Stir in cooked rice and heat through.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- You can use ground turkey or pork instead of beef.
- Adjust seasonings to your taste.
- Add a dollop of sour cream or a sprinkle of fresh parsley before serving.
