Description
A refreshing homemade lemonade infused with fresh blackberries and mint.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1 cup lemon juice (from about 6–8 lemons)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices and mint sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. This is your simple syrup.
- In a blender, combine the fresh blackberries and mint leaves with 1/2 cup of the simple syrup. Blend until smooth.
- Strain the blackberry-mint mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
- Add the lemon juice and the remaining 3.5 cups of cold water to the pitcher. Stir well to combine.
- Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more simple syrup.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the blackberry mint lemonade over the ice.
- Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint sprigs before serving.
Notes
- For a less sweet lemonade, reduce the amount of sugar in the simple syrup.
- You can make the simple syrup ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- Adjust the amount of mint to your preference.
