Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup cherry preserves
  • 1/4 cup kirsch (optional)
  • Fresh cherries, for garnish
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  2. In a separate bowl, melt bittersweet chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave. Let cool slightly.
  3. Gently fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream until just combined.
  4. If using kirsch, stir it into the cherry preserves.
  5. Spoon a layer of chocolate mousse into the bottom of serving cups.
  6. Top with a layer of cherry preserves.
  7. Add another layer of chocolate mousse.
  8. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
  9. Garnish with fresh cherries and chocolate shavings.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the kirsch.
  • Ensure the chocolate is not too hot when folding it into the cream to prevent melting.
