Description
A recipe combining the moist texture of banana bread with the fudgy richness of brownies.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 medium)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until combined.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Mix in the mashed bananas until just combined.
- Stir in the cocoa powder until no streaks remain.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the chopped nuts, if using.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs attached, not wet batter.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and moisture.
- For fudgier results, slightly underbake them.
- Store cooled brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
