Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup water chestnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
  • 8 large butter lettuce leaves

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground chicken and cook, breaking it up, until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add onion, garlic, and ginger to the skillet. Cook for 3 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Add chopped water chestnuts and green onions. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Spoon the chicken mixture evenly into the lettuce leaves.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or pork for the chicken.
  • For extra flavor, add 1 teaspoon of sriracha to the sauce mixture.
