Description
A sweet and spiced salsa made with apples, served with crispy cinnamon sugar tortilla chips.

- 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt to taste
- 8 small flour tortillas
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, red onion, red bell pepper, cilantro, lime juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cayenne pepper (if using), and salt. Stir gently to combine.
- Arrange the tortillas on a baking sheet. Brush both sides with melted butter.
- In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered tortillas.
- Cut each tortilla into 6 wedges.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the chips are golden brown and crisp.
- Serve the apple pie salsa with the cinnamon sugar chips.
Notes
- You can use your favorite type of apple, such as Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji.
- Adjust the spices to your preference.
- For a spicier salsa, add a pinch more cayenne pepper.
