Ingredients

  • 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, red onion, red bell pepper, cilantro, lime juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cayenne pepper (if using), and salt. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Arrange the tortillas on a baking sheet. Brush both sides with melted butter.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered tortillas.
  5. Cut each tortilla into 6 wedges.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the chips are golden brown and crisp.
  7. Serve the apple pie salsa with the cinnamon sugar chips.
