- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Stir in the white vinegar. The batter will become slightly frothy.
- Pour the batter into a greased and floured 8×8 inch baking pan.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Notes
- For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
- You can add chocolate chips or nuts to the batter before baking.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting or serving.
